In our industry, it is of vital importance to know, refresh and discuss the requirements for each test so that we can provide sound, reliable data for quality control and verification purposes.
Once a month our Mechanical Testing team dedicates some hours to refresh scope and testing requirements of national standards.
The topic of discussion of last week was AS/NZS 1163 which highlights the requirements of cold-rolled structural steel hollow sections and includes the requirements for production control and type testing.
Testing mainly involves Chemical composition analysis, Tensile tests, Charpy Impact testing, and cold flattening tests for circular hollow sections.
Thank you Luis, Dan, Michael and Gus for showing me around!
