Fluorescent MPI and hardness test

In situ crankshaft inspection for cargo vessel MV Enamora

For crack testing our technician performed a fluorescent MPI as it is considered best for detecting even the smallest imperfections. Because of its sensitivity to such small defects, this test is ideal for most metals which tend to have small, tight pores and smooth surfaces.

We also performed a hardness test, a key indicator of the resistance and quality of the shaft.

These tests must be done regularly as they can prevent potentially serious incidents.
